On Thursday afternoon just before 1500, Company 12(Eddystone) was dispatched to the area of Chester Pike and Eddystone Avenue for a brush fire. Upon the arrival of the police, they reported a brush fire “going good”, and advised that the fire was in Ridley Township. The Engine Company from Leedom as well as Vauclain was then added to the call. Engine 12 arrived and reported a brush fire in the same spot we have ran several others in the past two years, and put several PW’s in service to contain the fire and keep it from spreading. Engine 70 arrived and put the 400’ line in service, added an additional 50’ section, and put the fire out. All three companies overhauled the area to prevent any rekindle, and returned.
This is the third time that Engine 70 has placed the 400’ line in service on a call, and all three times was at the same spot for similar brush fires. It’s not exactly what we had in mind when we put the line on the Engine, but it has proven to be valuable and useful in ways we didn’t even think of.
